What to wear in Paris in April - Abril em Paris

Hi loves,  I had a special request to talk about April in Paris! So I decided to do a special post (or special posts) about it : how is the weather, what you should wear, where to eat and what to visit. This first post will be about what to wear in Paris in the springtime.

Spring in Paris is that beautiful time when we see those amazing clichés about the city. It’s such a romantic time to be in Paris, even if you’re traveling alone, you can feel the atmosphere of love and sweetness. The whole city is filled with color now: you have all of the cherry and apple blossoms , beautiful trees, all the green, it’s breath-taking. I cannot help thinking about the song ‘April in Paris’ (my favorite one it’s the one performed by Louise Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, here’s a link) that keeps playing in my head, reminding me of this magical time in the city while I write:

" I never knew the charm of spring, never met it face to face...I never new my heart could sing, never missed a warm embrace, until april in paris, chestnuts in blossom. Holiday tables under the trees. April in paris, this is a feeling, that no one can ever reprise."

For us that live in Paris, april has an amazing meaning: The sun comes back and everything is blossoming, it’s beautiful and we can finally go out and sit on a terrace and walk around the city and see all the beautiful parks and gardens. Happiness!

How is the weather in April?
It’s not that hot yet, as in May or June, but it’s already great to start your day with sun and the atmosphere is totally different from the winter so it’s a really good time to be in Paris. The minimum temperature and it’s usually 7°C (44/45°F), and the maximum is around 15°C (50°F).

What should I pack for April in Paris?
In April we have a lot of rainy days during the month, and the rain usually comes out of nowhere so, important thing: bring a raincoat. Maybe some waterproof shoes, and it’s still brisk, so bring sweaters and warm socks in case the weather changes and you need to keep warm. Oh, and a little scarf never killed nobody ;) Think about your luggage as a transition: you need to have either stuff to change your outfit during the day: to be warmer or to be cooler. And of course, pack things that are comfortable, and forget the light dresses and skirts for now.

Perfect April outfit for Paris from the book La Parisienne de Ines de la Fressange

On the other hand you should also bring some lighter stuff like : jeans, lighter tops and jackets, oh!, and don’t forget a hat and your sunglasses, since the sun’s back (yay!) they can be really helpful for your morning and afternoon walks.  I prepared a Pinterest board with some inspirations of outfits you can wear in april and maybe they will give you an idea of what to bring and what you can wear and not be too cold, too wet or too warm. Enjoy it here!

Let me show you an outfit I wore in April here to give you a reference. It's a little grunge style, more autumn like then spring, but it worked for that spring day :) . For me, a Brazilian girl that used to have warm weather all the time, it was difficult in the beginning of th year but in April it was much easier, the sun changes everything and if  you’re not brazilian or if you’re used to cold-weather that may be easier for you anyways (haha):

Vest and shirt from H&M, Zara bag, Forever 21 jeans and Minelli Oxfords.

Hope you enjoyed this article :) If you want to know more about April in Paris click here. Until the next article, find me on Facebook, Instagram and email.

Bisous and see you soon!

Oi lindezas!

Até o próximo artigo, me encontre no  Facebook, Instagram e no email.

Bisous e até a próxima!

The Guide to Study in France - Estudar na França - Pt 1

Hello guys! A lot of people ask me about the process I did to study in France, so I want to share a It is Paris Time Guide for the foreigner student in France (wow that's a long name! haha) I prepared for you, sweet you, that dreams to be a student in the city of lights.
I divided this Guide in many articles, and this is the first one with the first steps. Let’s go :

First of all, answer me honestly: Do you speak french?

If the answer is no, great ! Yes, that’s not a problem. We usually go to another country to learn their language, right ? France is not different. So, this first article is for you that wants to study this amazing language. And here’s what you'll need to do :

First of all, you have to pick a school. This part is not easy nor cheap, but it depends also on how much time you want to study in France and how much money you have to invest in it. You’ll have to choose a school from this list and contact them (by email or phone, in english) to do a inscription or a pre-inscription, which will be confirmed with a letter you’ll have to present (original letter, not copy) in your interviews for the visa.

Attention: Be sure to confirm with Campus France in your country how many hours per week of class are necessary before doing your inscription; in Brazil, for example, they require a 20 hours/week class as a minimum to apply for the visa.

Which school did I choose ?
Between all the options, I chose Le Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne. I did a semester there, and it was amazing, I’ve learned A LOT. Since I didn’t speak a word of french when I arrived and now, one year later, I do, I can affirm the classes were crucial to me. They have all sorts of french levels and durations to choose from. To see all their programs click here. I’ll write an article about all my experience at the school soon :)

After choosing the school, what do I do ?
Go to the Campus France website, and go to ‘Study in France’ menu. Or just click here. Campus France is the official organisation from France that takes care of all the preparation for students visas. Before you go to the French Consulate in your country, you’ll have to pass by Campus France, and do several steps to finally go to the consulate and demand your visa. The steps include : fill up many forms online to create a dossier with all your informations and previous activities, the payment of a tax, an interview with a member of Campus France, and only then, an interview with the consulate. Of course, this is a process required only for non-europeans, and it can vary depending on your country. To start your application go here.

How long does it take to get a visa in France ?
If you do all the process correctly, and provide all the documents they demand, it usually takes 2 months. Mine took 2 months and I was not working nor studying while doing it. It can be a little more or a little less depending on your country and your situation, but it takes more than a month, at least. So I don’t advise you to buy your plane tickets before having your visa, or at least, before starting the process. I did it, and I had to change it because my visa was not going to be ready by the day of my flight, not cool!

If everything goes right (lets hope it does), you’ll receive your visa soon! But your legal obligations won’t stop there : when you arrive, you’ll have one last appointment at the OFII, the office of immigration to do register your arrival (that actually depends on the time you'll stay, maybe you won't need this part).

After all this long (and not so fun) process, you’ll be ready to go to Paris! Reminder: if you have a visa longer than 6 months, you can renew it while you’re still in Paris, to know more about it, here’s an article.

If you need to find a place to stay, click here to see my article about it.

If you already speak french and you want to know more about doing a Bachelor's Degree or a Master at a french University, read my article here.

If you have any doubts/suggestions about this article, write to me on the comments below or find me on Facebook, Instagram or email me.

Bisous and see you soon!

Primeiro de tudo, me responda sinceramente:  Você fala francês?
